MHOAA National Convention – Why attend the MHOAA Convention?
By Kylin Parks, MHOAA Board Member
The number one reason to attend is that it is Energizing: We all work very hard throughout the year towards the same goals. Let’s face it battling these issues is hard work and very wearing on volunteers. We all have experienced burn out, but after you attend the convention it’s like your batteries are totally recharged. You have great networking opportunities to see what and how people from other states are dealing with the same issues. New ideas are gathered and friendships are made. I can’t begin to tell you how many people have told me that after the Convention they are returning to their state with a fresh new perspective!
The second reason is Knowledge: The workshops are well thought out and speakers are knowledgeable and prepared. A pre-convention survey is taken to be sure that the topics are those that the attendees are interested in. You will come home with lots of handouts and new ideas to share with the rest of the members in your association.
The third reason is just plain Fun: It is great fun to connect with others from around the country who our facing the same challenges that you are. Whether it’s your first convention or you have attended many, it’s always great to see your fellow manufactured home owners in relaxing atmosphere where you can share success from throughout the year with others who truly understand what it takes to achieve them. It is a time of celebration, something we should try and remember to do all year long but usually gets lost in frenzy of the important work!
MHOAA’s Annual Convention will be held on October 20-22 in the DC area. We have obtained a room rate of $105/night for single or double occupancy rooms at the Crowne Plaza, Silver Spring, MD. Please call the hotel at: 1-866-829-4126 to make your own room arrangements. Be sure to give them the 3 letter code (MHO) so that you get the special MHOAA room
rate. If you would like to share a room (and keep expenses to a minimum), please let Ishbel (ishbel@mhoaa.us) know so that she can match you with a room-mate.
Last word for June – Welcome PAMHOA – MHOAA’s newest state association member – it is good to add Pennsylvania to our list of state members. MHOAA also welcomes individual home owners’ associations as members ($35/annual membership) as well as individual home owners ($15/annual membership). Please see the application form on the MHOAA website (www.mhoaa.us) for more details.
