Meeting of January 21, 2012

January 22, 2012

I started off enjoying good humor, and stories and good coffee, before our meeting. I started off looking at our new signs for neighborhood watch, that I got from the township.I had ask where would we put them, one person suggested one on the mail room and I suggested as we drive in on the pole in the media where the speed limit sign of 10 mph is just above it, and the other just past all the tree’s on the right as you come in. Tracy said; she will ask for permission on Monday. As you already know we are still having break-ins. I talked about all the information I have put on the our website on Liberty Twp. Gloria Lang was the reporter for the review paper and retired. So has decided to post information by email anyone could sign up for, I told her I would post her information on the web site. For some of you that still think you live in Girard, you are wrong, Girard is only our mailing address since Liberty don’t have a post office. If you go for a driver’s license or plates make sure you tell them you live in Liberty Twp it’s cheaper. I also had talked about the court hearing on the 26th to have another auction, Mary, Elsa and me will attend to see what is happening. I will had more after that. I just wanted to say also is the snow plowing is great, they are doing a good job.

Homes are being broken into!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 19, 2012

I was told that we are having homes broken into, things are being taken. This is OUR community let’s make this our safe community and show others. What would you say if it was your home that they broke into, this could happen to any of us. We all have to work together. If doors are open call the office and let them know, if you see someone in a home and don’t belong call the police and the manager. We will have a meeting on Saturday come and give your input. We need all of you, let’s work on cleaning up are community. See you on Saturday at 4:00 pm.for free coffee and bring your neighbor. Thx. Jim

Get Liberty News to your Computer

January 15, 2012

Hello,
For those of you who know me, I am back. For those of you who don’t —I am Gloria Lang and I welcome you to my latest endeavor. I hope you enjoy it and it helps you to be informed about the community we live in. There is much that happens in Liberty that never is shared with the community in general. That will be my goal with this newsletter. Here are some rules of the game.
If you receive this email, you or someone else has indicated to me that you would be interested in receiving it. For many years I did the Liberty Reporter (The Review Newspaper) and provided an electronic newsletter to almost 500 residents. I stopped these activities in September 2011. Since then I have 1.) been approached by many people telling me they miss the information about our community; and 2.) I have noticed the severe lack of communication that exists now and it is a handicap for us as residents and taxpayers. We do not have a community paper and our two local papers have an area that is too large and diverse to give much coverage to any particular locality. With this in mind, I have decided to resume an electronic one again. I realize that many of our residents do not own a computer so this will not necessarily help them but it is the best I can do so if you remain on my mailing list please share some of what you may learn with those who would like to know.
I please be aware of the following facts. I am not a journalist. I have NO training in any area connected with journalism. Have been out of school for more than 60 years. For these reasons, do not look to grade my English or grammar. I will write in the same manner and tone as if I were at your kitchen table. I am starting a new mailing list. I am not using the former list. No one has access to this list. I do not share it, loan it or sell it. No one has access to my computer. All mailings are sent blind copy. If you would like to be removed from my list at any time, no reason necessary, just tell me and you will be removed immediately. If you receive one covering a subject that does not interest you just reach for that magic “delete” key. Do not look for controversy. It will be apolitical and usually news that is nice to hear and what is not covered or covered enough about our community. Pictures that appear in them can be uploaded. I will be happy to add people to my mailing list but I do reserve the right to choose those I do. If you would like to contribute to it, I would be delighted and so would others. Pass the word to your friends and if they are interested have them mail me their email address so I can add them to the list.
Here are some of the subjects that I will be talking about in the very near future.
General township news
News of the Police and Fire Departments
The Liberty Business Association
The Liberty Historical Society
Coming events and meeting times
Friends of the Library
Help for Senior citizens “Senior Watch”
Commercial news of the township
Achievements of our Liberty students and people.
Social events LHS Dinner —children’s events the— Easter Bunny
Senior Follies
Blott Kids Holiday Project
The Liberty Little Leopards
Liberty Township Baseball Association
The Liberty Scouts
Church news– volunteer news
And much more.
I find I am rather rusty at this now so I ask your patience until I get going again. I have to organize my files and contacts again. We are starting off with about 125 on this new list. It will be up to you to make it grow. If anyone wants off now, please let me know. If anyone wants included, have them send me an email with “newsletter” in the subject. Well here we go! Look for something in the near future.
If you have good information for Gloria send it to her she will post it, and send your email address to her and she will put you on her list for emails thx. Jim

Meeting of January 7, 2012

January 9, 2012

Before the meeting Larry brought a box of donuts, and we tried out a mike that he had for our meeting. The meeting started with Mary reading the minutes of our last meeting. The treasurer reported and then, I talked about our great venture on how lucky we were. We sent in a cash explosion ticket that had 3 entry’s on it and our name was drawn. I have never known anyone that has been on the show. I thank Tracy for posting our good luck in the mail room. Tracy called this morning and said; she didn’t do it. So ever did it I thank you for a good job you did on the flyer. I have been looking into more information about the auction on Feb.9th I know of three people who plan to attend, if more info is put out to where and time. A lot of talk about the auction so we just have to wait and see. This is where we all live and someone is causing trouble in here. People had their gas tank strap cut, brake lines cut,and cars being keyed. We all live here, and we need to step up and keep your eyes open, this is very serious.

UPDATE: I was told that there may be a delay on the auction another month or two, due to courts and paperwork, plus post it for 30 days. I will update as I get info. thx.

To Everyone in Liberty Township,

Please send to all of your Liberty Township e-mail addresses to go on libertytwp.com and sign up for Nixle on our website. or go to; http://www.nixle.com

Last weekend we had a boil alert and in my opinion had awful communication about this important issue. Nixle will be a way for the police/fire and township to inform our residents of boil alerts, water main breaks, suspicious characters/cars in our neighborhoods, twp. meetings and special events.

I have already sent official letters out to both the Youngstown Mayor and Girard Mayor, Trumbull County Commissioners, County Engineer and Sanitary Engineer so that in the future we have better communication.

Please help us by signing up for this important ALERT SYSTEM thanks very much!!!!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,100 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.
