Liberty Twp. News

October 11, 2012

The winner of the Liberty Business Association’s 2012 Beautification and Safety Award is Liberty Place. This building is on the corner of Belmont and Trumbull Avenues. It is next to Jimmy’s Italian Specialities, who also own Liberty Place.  There were many improvements made to this property and now it is a great asset to our community. We thank the owners for their faith in our future. The presentation will take place at the next Trustee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the township building.
Candidates/Issues Night will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Liberty High School at 7 pm. Although there are no Liberty openings on the ballet, we have 4 issues that are very important and affect our taxes. Trustee Nudell will be there to explain these. Candidates for state and county offices will be there to explain their positions on those issues that can become very important in the near future such as fracking, landfill, water, sewer, etc. Please attend and participate. Light refreshments will be available and one on one visits with all the candidates will be possible for about an hour. See you there.
Please contact Pat Ungaro, if you have not already done so, to let him know we want a sign like Howland and Girard, provided by ODOT also–or a suitable project in its stead. Liberty deserves no less. If we do not speak up for ourselves, no one else will. This is our community and our home and we want and deserve as much consideration as any other community.Call or send an email to Pat.

WINTERIZEING  YOUR     HOME

1. Make sure heat tapes are working, plugged in, and cover your water meter. Insulate water lines with foam pipe insulation. (You can buy it at Handyman Hardware very cheap) Place fiberglass insulation around water meter and over crock.

2. On days or nights when the temperature outside or wind chill is 15 degrees or less, LET YOUR FAUCETS DRIP INSIDE YOUR HOME. ( running water doesn’t freeze.)

3. Check your skirting weekly . Tight skirting will prevent wind from getting under your home and freezing pipes your pipes.

4. Prepare your windows with plastic.

5. If you have Jealousy (roll out)windows, use small screws outside to keep them tight.

6. Oil all outside locks to keep them from freezing.

7. Check your doors for drafts, install weather-stripping if needed.

8. Check snow shovels, make sure screws and rivets are tight.

9. Keep all sidewalks, steps, and porches free of snow, and salted.

10. Shovel on street next to sidewalk, so that the plow can see how far over to plow. If you see the plow in the park, PLEASE move your car, and tell your neighbors, so he can plow better, and not plow you in. If you don’t do this, don’t blame the plow driver, as he can’t plow over your car.

11. Park as close to the sidewalk as possible. DO NOT park out in the street, or with the back of your car sticking out in the street, Emergency vehicles have to get through.

12. Check with utility companies for  possible budget, or heap plans available.

We of Peoples Voice Inc.are only here and organized, to help the residents of Vintage Village. We sincerely hope these tips will help you get through the winter with as few as possible problems.

Our October meeting

October 7, 2012

UPDATE:  Yes, we had a good meeting I talked about our community problems, and Liberty Twp.’s problems. I talked about the sewer problems we will running into, starting first of the week they will digging up Tuttle about a three-foot wide ditch going down to the sewer plant. This process will take up to 4-8 weeks to tie into the sewer system. Everyone on Tuttle will have to park on one side of the street. Let’s all work together on this, we all knew it was coming. They will also work on the front of our community removing the slag drive and to make the entrance way better and also patch the holes around the community.

As you have noticed they have remodeled many homes all ready, and are still going. They said; that they have a waiting list, from many people to buy a home in here. We still have the neighborhood watch in effect. It is all of us responsibly to keep our communty clean of drugs. That is also including the Twp. There will be a meeting on 17th of October for the Business Assoc. come and learn the Business side of the Twp. light refreshments will follow the meeting.

Liberty Twp. are still having problems on the south side break-ins and drugs, and they just had a shooting on the south side. The police are well aware of all of this, so let’s see how things will be  improve of the problems. Many residents are asking for help. There is a Twp. meeting on Tuesday the 9th of October starting at 6:30. Everyone is welcome to the meeting.
